Have you ever wondered if one of your deceased pets has reincarnated? Or may you think one of your current animals is a reincarnation of your furry soulmate?

If so, you are not alone. Many people often ask themselves these questions and wonder if their pets can be reincarnated.

The simple answer to this question is YES, our animals can and will often reincarnate. our souls never die and they can be reborn many times in a new body. Our animals are no different, in this, and with their shorter lifespan, they often come back multiple times.

In this post, we will look at the most common signs that you have found your reincarnated pet.

1. Feeling an Instant Connection

Signs your deceased pet has reincarnated

Feeling instantly drawn to an animal can be a sign that you have encountered a reincarnated pet, these are usually, dogs, cats and horses.

And although this may make sense, our minds doubt what our bodies and souls already know. We don’t always feel an instant connection with others so don’t dismiss it.

Maybe it is not your reincarnated cat or dog but there is a strong indication that you’ve crossed paths with this soul before, maybe even more than once. Don’t dismiss this connection, it is a sign that you have met before and have a shared history. They may have something important to share or teach you.

2. Feeling Overwhelming Emotions

Meeting our reincarnated pets can be a deeply emotional experience. The encounter may trigger overwhelming feelings of love, excitement, peace, sadness, relief, and a sense of finally being reunited.

The reunion may bring about tears of joy and laughter, as this special soul holds a cherished place in your heart.

These emotions are personal and signify a soul-level reconnection with your beloved pet. Whether you unexpectedly meet them at home or while traveling, it feels like destiny brought you together.

3. Recognising their eyes

Signs your pet has reincarnated

Our eyes are said to be the windows to our souls. It is believed that our bodies may change from one life to another, but our soul remains intact.

So, it is no surprise that some people instantly recognize their reincarnated pets while looking into the animal’s eyes. If this is the case, you may have found their reincarnation.

They are our animal soulmates, our helpers and our best friends!

4. Experiencing Telepathic Communication

Have you ever connected with someone so well that you knew the thought going through their mind before they said them? It’s like you just know things without having even exchanged a single word.

This can also happen when we come into contact with our deceased and reincarnated pets. This is called telepathic communication and the connection can be so profound that we even hear them speak. Words or sentences may flood into your mind, accompanied by a feeling of happiness and excitement.

This is not you losing your marbles!! Your animal wants to let you know that it is them, that they have come back and how excited they are to see you!

5. Getting Flashback of Shared Memories

Encountering your reincarnated pet is a truly extraordinary and one-of-a-kind experience that defies rational explanation. While you may not physically recognize your pet, you can feel their presence deep within you.

During this encounter, you may start to remember all the things you did together. These memories may appear as random visions, flashbacks, and dreams. It’s not uncommon for these memories to confuse our rational minds, and some people may even begin to question the experience.

6. Feeling a Sudden Urge to Embrace or Touch Them

Signs your horse has reincarnated

When you have found your reincarnated pet, you might feel an inexplicable pull towards them, even when there is no apparent reason to feel that way. As you approach your pet, you may feel the urge to hold them in a loving embrace or to reach out and touch them.

It’s like you are reuniting with your deceased pet, but they are in a different body. This feeling of safety can even extend to wild animals as if you have an unspoken bond with them.

7. Sensing an Electrical Current Throughout Your Body

Reuniting with your reincarnated pet and touching them may evoke an electric sensation that flows through your body. This physical contact can trigger memories and sensations, such as hearing their name, feeling their presence, and even catching their scent.

These experiences can be intense and are a sign that the pet has a soul mission to support you or help you spiritually grow. This feeling can be felt multiple times but most people sense it the first time they physically touch the animal.

8. Getting Goose Bumps

Have you ever experienced fully body chills or goosebumps when looking at or interacting with an animal? Then, you may be sensing your reincarnated pet’s energy or your spirit guides were letting you know that your deceased furry friend was around.

So, next time you feel these spiritual chills, take a moment to tune in and listen to your intuition. It might just be your beloved pet, sending you a loving message from beyond the veil!

9. Experiencing Déjà Vu When You Are Around Them

Have you ever experienced déjà vu? It’s a really weird feeling when you think you’ve already gone through the exact same situation before. Sometimes, we may experience this with an animal that has reincarnated.

We remember interacting with the soul despite the change in physical appearance. Some people experience déjà vu when they meet their reincarnated animal for the first time. Others may get this feeling during familiar situations or experiences shared with their deceased animal.

10. Having a Strong Desire To Have Them In Your Life

Have a strong desire to have them in your life.

Another tell-tale sign that you’ve encountered your reincarnated pet is feeling an intense urge to take them home with you. You may feel a strong attachment to the animal sense and want to share your life with them once again. It feels like your beloved pet has returned, and you can’t imagine life without them.

11. Finding unique markings on their body

dog reincarnation signs

Another sign that your animal has reincarnated is through their unique physical appearance. When our beloved pets come back, they can choose the body they wish to reincarnate into, including the color and markings.

You may notice that your reincarnated pet has a marking that reminds you of their past life, such as a birthmark in the same place as a past injury or scar.

It’s truly remarkable how our furry soulmates can come back to us in such a special way, and it’s a beautiful reminder of the everlasting bond that we share with them.

12. Exhibiting Familiar Behaviour

One way to recognize the reincarnated soul of a deceased animal is by observing the new animal’s behavior and personality. For example, you might notice that your new dog exhibits the same body language as your previous dog, who has passed away, or they may show similar fears and anxieties.

Your new animal may become tense and exhibit the same fears as your deceased animal. Alternatively, your new cat might exhibit similar behaviors to those of your deceased cat, such as scratching their back on a particular pole or urinating in a specific location that your previous cat preferred.

Additionally, personality traits that were unique to the deceased animal, such as curiosity, stubbornness, mischievousness, or boldness, may carry over into the new animal. These traits could serve as further evidence of the reincarnation of the soul.

13. Time and space ceasing to exist

When you meet your reincarnated dog or animal the bond between them remains incredibly strong. So much so, that when you reencounter them you may feel like the world around you fades away.

Time seems to stand still as you get completely lost in each other’s company. You may it hard to focus on anything else – being with them is all that matters! This was no chance meeting, your souls planned to meet again.

  1. I love this article Sandra. I am grateful that you wrote this and included it on your website. I have often thought many of my pets have reincarnated. In fact, one of my dogs has started to grow wiry hair around his eyes like my other dog used to have and with his breed there is no wiry hair at all. More interesgly, he didn’t start growing this hair until he was nearly four years old! Thank you, I look forward to reading the rest of these articles. Infinite love and blessings to you!

      1. Hi,I lost both of my animals. I was 4 when I got Pierrie he was different and smart at 17 he was killed and I would cry starting at his age 8 till 13 when I knew how. My life was never the same. My brother died June 20th 2024 so I looked at pic and found Pierre I cried uncontrollably. But, in 2003 my son found this 4 week old kitten at his side. They have a kennel and ferral cats born outside. This one was Red, Orange and he brought him hoke to me
He Siad call him Rufus. That cat again was the love of my life and he would come home when I called, smart. 2017 my life ended again and 4 days of crying. Outside crying and lady bug came to me. It was Rufus. Anyway as I researched Pierrie they have a very rare poodle it’s Red, they call it Rufus. I almost fainted. I even have on his Urn Our Souls are One..I believe Perrie was Rufus but I didn’t realize when he was alive but I would look at them and say not knowing yet You are my Power Houses. You two need to be together. The love I have for both is the same. I lost both but when I saw Pierrie again, I read more
Why would my son call him Rufus of all names
RED, Same personality as a cat can do. Go with me places outside and play with dog next door. Maybe I’m looking or wrong, but they both died at 13 also.

        1. Hello Victoria,

Thank you for sharing with us. You clearly have a soul connection with Pierre and Rufus. Our animals give us signs, but we don’t always realize what they mean at the time. You mentioned many coincidences: the connection, the name, the personality, and even the behaviors. Your son intuitively felt that was his name and said it—it just felt right to him. I believe these “coincidences” are divine nudges from above, showing us that we are more than just this body and life, and that we can indeed have multiple lives and return to our loved ones in different forms. What a divine realization!

Thank you for sharing your story with us.

          Sending you love and healing,
          Sandra

  2. I lost my pet soul mate almost 10 yrs ago.
He was the love of my life. The love I felt for his transcended anything I had ever felt for anyone.
He passed away very old and although I knew it was time for him to go, his absence was the most painful loss in my life.

It took years for me to go through my grief. We adopted again, and although I love my dogs, the holes my pet soul mate filled remained empty.

Until last year, when I started to have this insanely strong feeling in my uterus, like I wanted life and give birth. I never wanted to be a parent, so I told my hubby I really wanted to adopt another dog. He vehemently said no for many reasons, but I just could not. I went online and looked for a breed mix of dog that was never even considered before. Then I saw her face, this little puppy up for adoption. And I could not get her out of my mind. Throughout the entire process I just knew I had to have her.
After the rescue approved me for her and I went th found a couple of interviews and brought her home, I was sitting on my couch a few weeks later with her on my lap. I was caressing her and I looked up and I saw the photo of my pet soul mate staring back at me. I was overwhelmed by this insane voice in my head and feeling, where he said “I am back”. I cried unconsolably. My hubby had already made a few comments about how she did some things that marked my pet soulmate’s adoption. I had also noted a few very peculiar things she did that were just like him.
I kept those feelings for myself because I didn’t want people to think I was crazy.
Then I posted a photo of my new puppy online and my mom (who is extremely spiritual) commented: “I am back to you in this little body.” I was shaking like crazy and called my mom
to ask what she meant. And she said she had the overwhelming feeling she was my pet soulmate’s reincarnation and started crying.
It was hard to deny this feeling when my mom, without prompting, asking or anything thought the same.
The people who know me long know about my love for my pet soulmate and they have made comments how I express myself with her like I did with my pet soulmate. So I believe that. Regardless of anything, my baby fills me with a love I have no words to describe.

    1. Hi Leeloo

Thank you for sharing this beautiful story. Your message brought tears to my eyes. I’m overjoyed to hear that you have found your pet soul mate. 🙂 There’s something truly special about reconnecting with our reincarnated animals.

It’s true that many of us tend to doubt ourselves until someone else confirms our feelings. So, it’s wonderful that your husband and mother were able to validate your experience and acknowledge your dog’s reincarnation.

  3. I’d give anything for my sweet Daisy to come back to me. I feel so lost without her, life feels empty. I hope I see her again

  4. My beloved dog who chose me at only a few days old passed at 17 years, he was blind his last 9 years due to PRA he & I adopted to it. He played all the time, loved chasing me with the hose, knew when we were at McDonald’s got his kiddy kone. I miss him TERRIBLY. A year after he passed almost to the day I was given a mini dachshund looked just like him, was 9 weeks old, I was sure it was him, my rescue growled at him so I gave him back, I hate myself as I feel we had a second chance & I gave him back. What if it was him, I gave my love away, I am sick that I didn’t give them more time to adjust, I never hear from my lost love I’m sure it’s my fault as he must have come back & I gave him away, I need him so much as my rescue never plays just sleeps, I’m sick at heart wishing I knew if this puppy was my Bullett.

    1. Hello Diane
I am sorry to hear about your loss, Bullett sounds like such a beautiful soul. The good news is that they can come back multiple times so don’t worry about never seeing him again. Our animals can hear our thoughts and know our intentions. If you had known for sure it was him, you would have never given him up. If he made his way back to you once, he can do it again. It may just take a little time. But you can connect to him on a soul level. Grab a picture of him and look into his beautiful eyes. Then feel what it was like when he was with you tell him how you are feeling and find a way to forgive yourself. Our dogs love us unconditionally, and if he is your soul mate, he will want to spend not one, but many more lives with you. Ask him to come and say hello and let you know he is with you. See if you receive any signs from the afterlife. That way you will know if it was him or not. Bullett would want you to be happy and although the guilt is normal, try to forgive yourself and trust he will come back to you when he is ready. Thank you so much for sharing. Sending you love and healing. 🙂

  5. Such a beautiful article to read, Sandra, thankyou. My heart breaks for your readers who’ve responded and shared about their soul mates…there’s no grief like it.
I lost my bestie a few months back. He was only 2 years old.
I had an amazing experience a few weeks back tho that has not left me nor will it. We were at the beach when out of nowhere I came face to face with the most peculiar puppy (8-9 months?) who gave me such a jarring yet beautifully visceral exchange. I always chat to the owners of dogs when out and about and I had such a lovely, albeit emotional conversation with his owner, who was so kind and completely engaging. We spoke about the unusuall characteristics of her dog and how she too was convinced he was ‘out of the ordinary’ and quite possibly human? I told her about my beautiful dog, trying not to overwhelm her with my own grief. But it was the interaction between her dog and me that was quite remarkable, as both herself and my BF noticed the immediate connection we’d made in such a short amount of time. He
had such an uncanny familiarity about him, so striking that it hit my heart like an arrow from a bow! His eyes, his nature, his beeline to me? Then his reluctance to walk away when it was time for them to keep wondering along…he would spring back to his owners side as she called and continued to meander along the beach but he kept stopping every 20 or so meters and turning back to me, either staring or defiantly running back over to where I stood… He did this repeatedly, untill he was far far along in the distance and to the point I felt my presence was interrupting their walking time. I have cried so many times for my bf to take me back to that spot on the beach so I see him again, as I know he lived nearby, I’m so sure he was connected to my diggerdog on a spiritual level of some kind. His new owner was such a beautiful lady and I feel blessed she gave me her time and allowed me to talk and cry about my loss. I can’t stop thinking about him though, I’m convinced it was either a message from Sladie or it was a reincarnation of sorts. I’m comforted by knowing he is with kind owner…Fen

    1. Hello Fennis

Yes, you are absolutely right, it is heartbreaking when we lose our animal soul mates. That is why these divine experiences are so special. They can help us feel a little closer to our animals in spirit and help us heal too. Feeling this intense connection and spiritual recognition pulls you into an energetic void that is simply magical. No amount of words can really express this heartfelt encounter and although watching them leave can feel heartbreaking, every second of the experience was worth it and will remain with you forever. I hope you get the chance to see the puppy again. This will give you the opportunity to know whether Sladie was communicating through this dog or if he has reincarnated into a new family. Either way, you know that the two of you share a soul mate connection and that a part of him will always remain with you. Thank you for your beautiful message and for sharing the wonderful experience with us all. Sending you love and healing. 🙂

  6. My soul mate puppy passed exactly 10 days ago.. He was 4 days away from being a year old. He passed feb 9th. His birthday was February 13th. The day he passed.. I died with him. My husband reassured me that we’d only be alone for some time. I furiously told him no. Not another dog.. not going through the same thing again. He automatically said of course he understood no more dogs. 3 days later I came home from church & I broke to pieces walking in my house, walked up stairs until my husband came up to ask me if I was ok, I cried telling him ‘I do want another baby’ (fur baby) that night my husband found out his clients dog had puppies which are the same exact color & breed my baby Future was. I immediately cried and said let’s get one 😭 So we gave the deposit down on the dog. The very next day someone contacts my husband & says hey there’s this dog that needs to be rehomed. He is usually in the kennel all day long.. he needs a good family we know you guys are amazing parents & would be lovely to this new puppy. Especially cause they saw what the loss of Future had done. Mind you he’s also a French bulldog and he’s 1 year & 3 months! Immediately I said yes. The number 1 & 3… my baby’s birthday!! He is an angel sent from my baby! He played allllll night long with us slept with me, it’s been 3-4 days and he follows me around EVERYWHERE… & crazy.. I have a ton of toys that my baby never played with that he loves!!!!! I also got some bark box toys laying around that he doesn’t care about. He loves Future’s toys!!! (Future never liked toys) he always wanted to play catch with me cause I played with him since he was soooo small. But I had already been reading all the medium stuff I had no idea about. (My mom had told me a little bit about it & how she believed it 100 percent) I still have to wait 7 weeks for the new baby. But I truly believe that will be my baby Future reincarnated!!! He HATED I mean hated being away from me. He went crazyyyyyy If I went into another room he went with me. Cried like a child outside the room for me to let him in! He was beyond spoiled!!!! I know he can’t go a minute without me I’m so sure he came back in that litter!!!! I get weird senses of smell it’s usually pee, his scent, or a good weird smell. It comes in waves too. & he’s sent me so many signs that he’s here… I know my baby can’t live without me and he knewwwww I couldn’t live without him myself. He comes and visits soooo often! It’s crazy I’m so glad I read all this amazing stuff you guys have to offer. I am alive again with this new pup. & someone is gifting me another French bulldog that is 8 hours away from me… exactly in the city where my momma lives. And I decided to buy her. She also had been in kennels all day and was very alone according to her mom.. she is loved but no time. I was about to say nevermind…When she text me at 7-8pm ‘hey girl Tokyo has been in the kennel all day.. I went to work at 7 and it’s 8 pm and I’m barley getting home.. my heart shrunk!!! I text her back right away don’t worry she won’t be living like that for long.. she will have the best puppy parents!!! I’m just in awe that my baby Future didn’t just send me 1 but 2 little angels meanwhile I wait for his reincarnated soul.. for 7 agonizing weeks!!! I truly believe that’s my baby! I can’t wait to look into those doggies eyes because I know I’ll know which one to take home whether it be a girl or a boy I’m so excited!!!! Future has given me a 3 reasons to live!!! I’m so grateful. I hope somebody reads this and knowssss their baby is in heaven with their loved ones watching over us or being reincarnated as we speak!!! I will be back with updates 🐾

    1. Hi Wendy
I am so sorry to hear about future crossing over at such a young age. It is great that your husband is there for you and open to the new furry additions. The synchronicity of it all is just amazing, those two dogs are very lucky souls. They deserve to be spoiled, they are wonderful companions, loyal, trusting, sensitive, and yet full of unconditional love. I am sure those dogs will also bring you a lot of love and joy too.

You also mentioned smelling scents in waves that come and go, that is exactly how we psychically perceive scents. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, I am sure your message will help others too. Sending you love and healing. 🙂

  7. What a great article, thank you for sharing your knowledge! My beautiful dog, Nina, crossed the rainbow bridge October 2023. We were together for 14 incredible years. I always knew she is my soul dog. Last week an animal communicator gave me the best news I ever received in my entire life: Nina is coming back to me!!!! She is already in her mother’s belly!! And she asked me to call her Maya this time. She said we are soul family and we were together in many lives. When I was a kid, she was Lory. Then she was Nina, and now she will be Maya. I am so happy, so grateful, I can’t even explain! I am so excited to meet her again. This article sure helped me to calm my nerves, now I am more confident about finding her. Thank you!!

    1. Hi Debora
That is wonderful news! I can imagine how much you are looking forward to reconnecting with your soul dog. Many pet parents worry about not finding their reincarnated pets or that they won’t recognize them. But we will always be able to sense our soul pets, our connection transcends time and space. So trust your intuition and know that when you meet Maya, you will know it is her.

Thank you for sharing. Do let me know once you have found her. 🙂
Sending you love and a spark of intuition.

  8. H I loved your article I think my new dog Reba may be my dog chewy he was a chuwawa he was with me for 19 years Reba is a standard poodle I was attracted to her immediately I saw her she has a birth mark just like chewy the same color and in the same place what do you think

    1. Hi Jill
I actually got full-body chills as I read your message, It could well be her. Have you noticed any other similarities or coincidences since you brought her home?
      Sandra

  9. Thanks Sandra. I have read your article about deceased animal. My loving dog dead one month ago. After reading your article I hope he will surely reincarnate and back to me. If I found him then always grateful to you. Thank you so much.

    1. Hi Pratim

I am sorry to hear about your dog recently passing away. I am sure you miss him/her deeply and can’t wait to see their beautiful face once again. I also hope that your dog finds their way back to you, hopefully it will be very soon.

  10. Thank you for this article. My name is Jason by the way. I come to the Internet looking for some answers this morning. I have a presa canario who is passing to cancer as I sit and type this response to your article. I got her from a mans wife that passed from a bad wreck and she couldn’t look at EZ Breezy without thinking of her husband. So I reached out to her we worked a deal out. I have had her for a little over 4 years now. I noticed somethings over the years that reminded me of my pitbull doc but didn’t pay it any mind just thinking it was a coincidence. Well this morning I woke laying in bed I looked at breezy right in the eyes all I could see was my pitbull doc. I’ve been very upset of knowing that breezy is going to be gone soon. Anyway I couldn’t help myself so I said to her if that is you doc lick me in the spot that you did the night you passed. Which was kinda a trick cause he licked my left hand the left side of my nose. Well low and behold she came up to me and licked the same exact spots as the night that doc passed. I was freaked out a little bit but since then I have been at peace with breezy passing here soon it’s so odd to me. Thank you for the answers I came for.

    1. Hi Jason
What a beautiful and meaningful sign. It is great that you asked for a specific sign as confirmation, that way your mind cannot ignore or deny their attempt to communicate from the other side. Breezy has helped you find some peace around her passing. What a wonderful gift this is!

Thank you for sharing your divine experience with us, your message with undoubtedly help others.
Sending you love and healing. 🙂

  11. I lost my boyz Back to back one 17 the other 15. I was devastated to say the least. One a dachshund the other a German shepherd. They were best friends. 5 months later I was looking on a rescue site and was drawn to this little dog that was the color of my dachshund but looked like a mini German shepherd. We met and it was love at first site. He is the smartest little guy I’ve ever met! He acts like he knows me and my home. He was left in the dessert and never in a home, he was a Ferrel dog so to speak. He acts like he’s been with me for years! He went threw the doggy door like he already knew it? I feel like he’s Both my boyz in one! He acts like both of them? It’s crazy when he looks at me..he looks deep into my eyes like to say it’s me mommy..just very strange we are bonded like we’ve been together forever!.. it’s only been 1 month. I lost my shepherd 6 months ago, this pup is 5 months old…crazy but it’s like they both are in this pup…

  12. Sandra, I am so glad I came across this article! You put into words my experiences that I could never explain to myself or anyone else. I adopted a Siamese kitten Cleo who bonded with my son. I adored her but she ignored me most of the time. She passed away at 6 years and it devastated me. I didn’t know how to cope with the grief. So exactly one year to the day later, I walked into the county shelter cat room where I worked. And yes, time stood still as I glanced into a wall kennel and looked right into the eyes of Cleo. I knew nothing about animal communication or reincarnation or soulmates etc. Without a thought I opened the door (something I would never do for a stray cat in quarantine). She leaned away from me for a moment, then melted into me. As I walked out I told my supervisor not to log her into the system, I was taking her home and I didn’t care if I got fired. As I walked into my house Jake our other cat ran up to her and they touched noses. My grief was gone. I could not explain any of this to myself! I named her Maya. Our bond was as powerful as the one with my son. 11 years later on January 1st 2012 she left me. I’m still grieving. It’s been difficult. I learned a world of knowledge about all things animal communication, reincarnation, soulmates etc. She is teaching me. She is never in my dreams, or by my side. I know she will come back, but my grief is still overpowering. It’s so devastating when I think of her, and I believe that part of me has to heal before she can enter my dreams or be by my side. 7 days after she passed, I adopted another Siamese. I love Hope very much and she is nearing her end of life. I think Maya is waiting so that she doesn’t overshadow my love for Hope.

    1. Hi Rebecca
Thank you so much for sharing this divine experience with us all. You explained it so beautifully, you just knew deep inside that it was Cleo. We humans try to explain it away or find a logical explanation for these beautiful encounters. But then seeing Jake interact with Maya like that just confirms what we felt. It is their way of letting us know. How wonderful is that! Cleo/Maya was a soul pet and I presume that she would have taught you many spiritual lessons too.

You mentioned her not coming through in your dreams, and you are right. When we are grieving the loss of a beloved pet, it is difficult for them to connect with us. This is because we find it difficult to stay anchored to the present moment, so we miss their messages. But if you want to try connecting with Maya, have a read of my blog post called ‘6 Simple Steps to communicate with deceased Pets in Dreams’. Try it for 21 consecutive days and see how you get on. Let me know how you get on. You can also ask her if she is waiting to come back, and if she is worried about affecting your relationship with Hope. Thanks again!

Sending you love and healing. 🙂

  13. My baby Bonnie passed away 2 days ago. It has been a tough few days and I just cant seem to stop crying even when thinking of the happy memories together. It just breaks me little by little everyday. She was only 2 years old and she was so healthy! Until 2 weeks back, she started acting differently. We took her to the vet and did blood tests. Dr said it could be a level 3 (mild) FIP symptoms however, there is no need for treatments yet. Shes an indoor cat, never been out. We took her home and gave some boosters and 2 days later, she was back to her normal self. Then 3-4 days later, she started to not eat and isolate again. So we did the booster cycle again for the 2nd time. And again, she was back to normal after 1-2 days of medication. But one day, out of the sudden, she started breathing so hard. She tried to sleep but she just kept on changing positions to be comfortable? And we could see her suffering. We then decided to take her to a 24h emergency vet clinic at 3am and dr said she was in a critical condition. There was nothing that they could do except to put her in the oxygen chamber to stabilize her. They can only start doing tests when the morning shift starts. We said our goodbyes and told her we will come back to pick her up. Around 5.30am we received a call saying she passed away. I died. I shouldve said we will be picking her up alive instead.

We had a small burial ceremony at my parents in law’s place as they have a garden that we can use to bury her. We then went home and spent the whole day crying and comforting each other, me and my husband. We cried ourselves to sleep that night.

The next morning came and the crying continues, even now when Im typing all of this down. We went to see her grave. I have never felt this sad, not even when my late grandfather passed away. I just found out today after reading the comments that there is such a thing as pet soul mates and i truly believe that i just lost mine.

I’ve read a couple of your other articles and it gives me strength to see another day. Before this, I just wanted to stay in bed and cry.

I decided to leave this comment on this post because of the other earlier comments. Thank you everyone for sharing their stories and experiences.

I really pray that Bonnie will come back to me, or maybe just come and say hi, cuz i really miss her so so much.

I am at that phase where i still dont understand why she was taken away from me when we have given her everything. The best life that she could ever have. My parents said there could be a silver lining to it but I just dont see what else that is better that can fill up this empty hole in my heart.

I knew this day would come but i wasn’t expecting it this soon. My husband and I are infertile and she was our baby. She was so understanding and amazing. I can go on and on about her all day long. And now that shes gone, its just me and my husband again. I dont feel nor want to get another cat. So i hope i get that connection whenever she is around/nearby.

    1. Hi Iman

I am so sorry to hear about Bonnie passing away, especially at such a young age. It is heartbreaking! They are little angels that come here to lighten up our lives. But when we lose our soul pet, it feels so unbearable. But it is important to honor your feelings and share your feelings and experience with your husband and other loved ones too. Talk about Bonnie, all the wonderful things she did, and keep that memory alive. Over time you will smile, laugh, and cry all at the same time, and it is such a divine and healing experience. But for now, just take it one day at a time, and open yourself up to connect with her on the other side. If you have already, I recommend reading ’40 signs your deceased dog is still with you’,just to learn more about the ways they may visit you from the afterlife.
But if you want to connect with Bonnie through dreams have a read of ‘6 steps to communicate with deceased pets in dreams’
Thank you for sharing with us all, every comment makes a difference.

Sending you love and healing. 🙂

  14. I’m not sure I believe pets can return as I’ve only had 1 dog that was truly mine. Of course we had pets as kids but not the same as having one that’s only yours. I had my Bella for almost 16 years. She had to be put down on May 20,2024. Two weeks before her birthday. I knew at the time I wasn’t ready to just jump into a new dog.. About July I started thinking I’m still not ready but if I find one that needs a home, I’d at least consider the idea. That night I had a dream of my Bella running in the woods. It was almost dusk and I was walking down a path. A dog comes running out of woods and it turns out to be Bella. I hug her and tell her she was great and I’ll always love her. In my dream she looked so happy and home. She had terrible arthritis before she passed so to see her run was great.. The next day I felt my dream had told me that Bella was giving me permission to move on. So on August 24. I seen an add giving away puppies . I go to pick one. These new puppies were born in June 24. As soon as I got there the new puppy (Pepper) climbs into my lap. Doesn’t move the whole time I’m there. So if course I bring her home. The first night I have a dream of when Bella was a puppy and trying to potty train her. 1,2,5,6,&10 these points in your post. Are why I may believe my Bella is now my Pepper. Before I read/found this post I told my grandma that I thought my new dog was my old one.. So whether it’s true or not. I’m going to love this dog just as much as I did Bella and hopefully I get 16years with her too.

    1. Hello Jessi

I am sorry to hear about Bella passing away. I can’t imagine what you are going through.
What you said was spot on. What is important isn’t what we believe or don’t believe but trusting our intuition and honoring our animals by opening our hearts. Bella came through to encourage you to open your heart once again, to find Pepper, and to love her as much as possible. That is the greatest gift we can give ourselves, and our animals, and it is a divine way to honor our pets too.

Thank you for sharing with us all, these comments help those who have lost their animal companions too.

Sending you love and healing 🙂

  15. Sandra,
I didn’t look for or find your website until after an encounter I had with a neighbors new puppy. I walk my best friend every evening and we would occasionally cross paths with a new puppy in the neighborhood. I have encountered many new puppies here and all their excitement to meet new people and pets. But I generally kind of avoid the encounter, I enjoy the meeting but my best puppy friend is 6 years old and is not fond of the puppy excitement they have for me and him. He is a gentleman and a gentle soul and not jealous in the least but doesn’t share their same enthusiasm. But the new girl on the block, I couldn’t avoid. I have never seen such excitement in a puppy to have to get close to us, so I made it a point to stop and greet her one evening. My neighbor, who I know, was worried about my dog not like the attention and might snap but I assured him he just ignores the puppies. After the first couple of quick meetings, in which I just chalked it up to puppy excitement, the next time we actually met, I was able to greet her, pet her. I thought if she is that anxious to see us, we’ll certainly make the effort, I asked if he didn’t mind as she is in training. He said no, not like he had much of a choice. She was whining and crying and pulling crazily to get to us. And this time, as I knelt down, rubbing her under her neck, my face on her forehead and telling her “it’s ok, calm down”, she continued to cry and whine even harder, pushing her head harder into me. And I felt it at that moment, that connection, it was like something reached out and touched my heart. My Labrador retriever, my baby girl I had lost several years a ago. I was shocked, confused, every emotion all at once. My friend had to almost literally drag her away after a minute or two. He commented as we were going our separate ways, “she doesn’t do that with anyone else, you’re the only one she does that to”. I knew but HOW I asked myself. I have never experienced anything like this. We’ve seen each other a couple of times since and when she sees us from across and down the street, she starts whining and crying and pulling my neighbor to get to us. I know he gets a little frustrated by this because of her training and I don’t want to compound the issue. But I truly felt that connection. It was not something I thought could or would ever happen. I never thought much about reincarnation. So I did a internet search and found you Sandra. As I read your article, it was hard for me to hold back the tears.
    Thanks!
Now how do I act or treat her when I see her? I’m know what I felt and experienced. They live close and we’re in a small neighborhood.

    1. Hi Walt,

Thank you for sharing such a beautiful and heartfelt story. As I read your words, I could feel the emotion and truth behind them. I’m still getting chills as I write this! What an incredible gift it is to have this connection with your lovely puppy.

That deep sense of knowing is so special. It’s not just something you think about—it’s something you feel with your whole heart and body. Your amazing dog was so happy to see you, to show you she’s okay and that she’s still connected to you.

If I were you, I’d definitely keep interacting with her whenever she comes around. Let her new family know how special she is—they’re lucky to have her. This isn’t just an ordinary moment; it’s a loving bond that’s worth cherishing.

Even if your neighbor finds it a little inconvenient, that’s okay. Your puppy might be trying to teach both of you something important. Love is what really matters, and when it’s shared so openly, it’s never a bother. It’s a reminder of why we love our animals so much—they teach us how to express joy and connection in the purest way.

You could even tell her new family that you feel like you’ve shared a past life with her. Who knows? It might get them thinking and help them see the magic in these moments, too.

Thank you again for sharing this wonderful experience. Your story touched my heart and remind everyone just how powerful our bonds with are animals really are. So, trust in what you’re feeling, honor the love you have for her, and don’t feel bad for expressing it. This connection is strong and goes beyond this lifetime—it’s something truly special.

      Sending you love and healing.

  16. Thank you Sandra!!
Yeah, big ol strong, tough guy me, ex military, construction worker and right now, the tears just streaming down my face. I told my wife tonigh that this evening we ran into them again, 12-11-24. I also I told my wife what I’ve experienced and how I felt it was our baby, our youngest of our three Labradors. And again, tonight my neighbor almost apologized for her, saying that she never acts like that, that they work with a trainer, he walks her with other dogs and she NEVER does that with ANYONE!
Thanks for your advice, I know because I feel it in my heart!!
