The passing of our pets not only turns our world upside down, it also leaves a bitter taste in our mouths. We often replay the final event in our heads over and over again, searching for other possible outcomes that could have kept them here for longer.
As our minds race from thought to thought, we wonder if our pets felt loved or if they knew how much we loved them. And the answer to those questions is yes, they do know. They always knew it, they could feel the love pouring out of our hearts as did theirs for us.
And the good news is that you can still connect and communicate with your pets in spirit. Whether you have lost a dog, a cat, a rabbit, a hamster, a bird, or a horse, you can still let them know how much you still care and love them.
For this reason, I have put together a list of the 12 ways you can connect with your pets in the afterlife.
1. Hold their favourite toy close to your heart
Holding our pets’ most prized possessions is a beautiful way to connect with our pets in heaven. It can bring back wonderful memories of moments shared and telepathically connect us with them. Their scent can often trigger our psychic senses and bring through messages from our pets in spirit.
2. Sit on their spot on the couch or bed
When our animals pass away, our houses can become strange, lonely, and unrecognizable places. We may find ourselves avoiding time on the couch, a place where they once shared with us, or feeling tense right before going to bed because it reminds us of them.
But this is an easy way to feel closer and more connected to our deceased pets. When you are ready, consciously sit or lay in their spot and ask them to join you. Then simply observe and open yourself to a miracle from the other side.
3. Meditate and connect with your dog in heaven
Most people meditate to calm their thoughts and feel more relaxed as they go about their daily lives. But Animal In-spirit meditations and visualizations can help us elevate our state of consciousness and reconnect with our pets in the spirit world.
As we raise our state of awareness, we connect to our non-physical nature and access the spiritual realm. In this state, we can feel the presence of our animals and over time develop our ability to communicate with animals in the afterlife.
4. Ask them to connect through dreams
Animals often communicate with us through our dreams. They visit us for many reasons, to say hello, to tell us how much they love us, to show us what they are up to in heaven, to give us advice or guidance, or to warn us of possible obstacles that may come our way.
But you can also reach out to them by setting an intention before you go to bed. You can ask them to connect with you in your dreams and ask them to ensure they are vivid dreams so that you can remember them in the morning. Then ensure you keep a notepad or journal to make notes as soon as you wake up. You don’t want to forget or miss out on their messages.
5. Keep their ashes close
Some pet parent choose to cremate their dogs and so get to keep a little part of their dog with them. Holding our dog’s ashes close, helps us feel closer to them and provides some emotional relief.
Although it can also make us feel emotional, it is a way of letting our animals know we are thinking of them. This can act as a calling card and encourage your pets to visit from the other side.
6. Start a daily ritual
Lighting a candle for our animals in spirit is a way of acknowledging their existence in the afterlife. When we light a candle whilst thinking of our pets, we let them know that they are in our thoughts and that our love for them lives on.
7. Leave their toys out for them to play
Leaving their toys out is another way to welcome our animals and let them know we are waiting for them to visit us from the afterlife. They may pop in to say hello and play with their today before returning to their new home.
Many pet parents say that they have felt their pets come to visit and noticed that their toys were moved around the house. So just in case you don’t see, hear, or feel them around you may notice things left out of place.

8. Visit their final resting place
Visiting our dog’s burial site is another way that we can connect with them. Although their souls have left a part of them remains. Being close this this sacred site can help us sense our pets and oftentimes we may receive an influx of images, and emotions or even hear them through our intuitive abilities.
9. Practice automatic writing
Automatic journalling is an effective tool to connect with our pets in heaven. All you need is a notepad and a pen to get started. Take a couple of deep breaths and allow the mind to quieten, then ask your pets a question and allow yourself to be inspired through the writing. The writing should be effortless as your mind remains quiet and relaxed.
10. Carry their collar or leash
Keeping your pet’s collar or leash on you is another way to connect with your pets on the go. Whether you go to work, the supermarket, or the local park, it is an invitation for them to join you as you go about your day.
Some pet parents swear by this technique and often report receiving multiple signs, such as coins, feathers, or stray animals approaching them out of nowhere. I suggest you try this out and don’t forget to leave me a comment in the box below for others to read.
11. Visit a pet medium
Booking a consultation with a pet medium is one of the best ways to receive messages from your pets in heaven. Pet mediums connect and channel messages directly from the other side. Our animals know just what to say to comfort us and share insights and spiritual wisdom to help us heal and move forward.
12. Join an animal mediumship course
Enrolling in an Animal Mediumship Course is a wonderful way to learn how to engage in a two-way conversation with your pets in spirit. You will learn the mechanics behind sending and receiving messages and discover how to interpret their meanings. If this sounds like something you would like to do, sign up for my newsletter to receive details of upcoming courses and deals.

I just lost my Chinchilla this morning, and I need to know that he's still out there somewhere, and that he's not suffering anymore. Please Help.
Hi Jerry
I am sorry to hear about your Chinchilla going missing. If he is lost, you can help him find his way back with this exercise.
1. Find a quiet place to meditate, relax your breath, and clearing your mind.
2. Then visualize your pet approaching you or returning home. Feel what it would feel like to have him return back to you.
3. Now feel how much you love him in your heart, and send a pink a wave of unconditional love towards him, and bathe him in love.
4. Then send a beam of white light up into the sky, so that he can find his way home.
But if you want we can have a session together and I can help track his movements to see if we can get him back.
Sending you love and guidance

Hello Patrick
I'm really sorry to hear about the loss of your animal. My deepest condolences. Losing our animal companions is such a painful experience because they give us so much love and become such a big part of our lives and families. Please take the time to grieve the loss and try to remember the wonderful time you spent together. And know that although your beloved pet isn't here physically, he is still watching over you from the afterlife.
